Y5 Project: Climate Change All Change
This year, we have launched an amazing partnership between our Year 5 children, a local architect firm Sheppard Robson and a wonderful charity called Climate Change All Change.
In the 4 month project, the children learnt all about sustainability, architecture and design. They were asked to create a design for a Patient Centre for the Royal Free Hospital in a climate crisis, where Hampstead Heath had transformed into a desert. At the end of the series of workshops, our Year 5 children presented their design ideas to a panel of 7 visiting adults from the two organisations and other external design professionals. They were all fantastic!

The professional architects we worked with, Jing Zhi Tan and Jasneil Panesar from the renowned firm Sheppard Robson, then went away to agree the winner and transform all the children's designs into realistic renders and moving animations. They came back to present these in an assembly for children and parents. Watching their concepts for green canopies, water-harvesting systems, and biodiversity hubs transform into moving, digital realities was a "lightbulb moment" for all of us!

The assembly concluded with an awards ceremony recognising the innovation, teamwork and technical skill displayed throughout the project. A huge congratulations to all of Year 5! You didn't just design buildings; you designed a blueprint for a greener future.
We would like to extend our deepest thanks to the Climate Change All Change charity for facilitating this partnership and to the team at Sheppard Robson for mentoring our Year 5 group. Projects like these prove that when we combine creativity with environmental science, our students are capable of extraordinary things.
