Computing

At Rosary, we want our children to be confident, creative and responsible users of technology. Our Computing curriculum equips pupils with the knowledge and skills to understand and shape the digital world, not simply to consume it. We believe that computing is a powerful tool for learning, creativity and communication — and we want our children to harness it with confidence and critical thinking.

From EYFS to Year 6, children develop skills across three interconnected strands of the Computing curriculum: computer science (understanding how digital systems work), information technology (using technology purposefully and productively), and digital literacy (staying safe, responsible and informed online). These strands are woven together throughout each year so that children build a rich, joined-up understanding of computing in the real world.

Children learn to write and debug code, create algorithms, design digital content and work with a range of software and hardware tools. Across the school, computing is linked to our wider curriculum — supporting research in History and Geography, enabling creativity in Art and music, and developing problem-solving skills that enrich all areas of learning. Online safety is embedded throughout every year group, equipping children with the knowledge they need to stay safe, protect their privacy and be kind citizens in a digital world.

We are proud to participate in events such as Safer Internet Day and we work in partnership with parents to support online safety at home as well as at school.
