Special Education Needs and Disability

Providing a high quality education for children with SEND is at the heart of our school’s ethos of inclusion and reflects our belief that everyone is an individual and valued by God.

  • This means celebrating our differences and individuality and modelling a just and tolerant society.
  • Rosary School will create a learning environment and curriculum in which all children and adults feel supported and motivated to learn.
  • Rosary School will recognise and celebrate efforts, motivations and achievement of all children and adults.
  • Rosary School will foster a climate of high expectations for each and every member of the learning community.
  • Rosary School will raise achievement for all by empowering every person to fulfil their own academic, spiritual, moral, social and emotional development.

Our Approach

Some children may have learning, physical, emotional/behavioural or special needs which require special support or provision over the long or short term. Their needs are identified and assessed according to the national code of practice and help is provided in school or sometimes from outside agencies for those who need it.

In January 2015 the SEN Code of Practice was updated and our school is fully compliant with this legislature. Please click to read our school SEND Policy Rosary SEND POLICY

SEND Information Report and Local Offer

A SEND Information Report (Local Authorities call this a ‘Local Offer’) gives children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities and their families’ information about what support services the local authority think will be available in their local area. Every local authority is responsible for writing a Local Offer and making sure it is available for everyone to see. Here is some information you may find helpful: DfE Parent Information about Local Offer

Camden Local Authority publishes the Camden Local Offer on its website – setting out a wide range of information about the specialist services, schools, colleges and organisations that can provide support and information for families of children and young people with SEN/D. It explains the procedures for requesting an assessment for an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) – which is replacing the SEN statement. It can be accessed at: families.camden.gov.uk/send-local-offer/

Do you need additional support or advice regarding SEN/D for your child?

Camden have lots of information for parents on their SENDIASS page (Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service). Click here to visit their website where you can find useful leaflets and a contact email address.
