Physical Education (PE)

Physical Education at Rosary is about much more than sport. We believe that being physically active is fundamental to children's health, happiness and development — building not only physical fitness but also confidence, resilience, teamwork and the ability to manage both winning and losing with grace.

All children from EYFS to Year 6 take part in at least two hours of PE each week. Our curriculum covers a broad range of activities across the year including gymnastics, dance, athletics, games (such as football, basketball, tennis, cricket and netball) and outdoor and adventurous activities. Children develop fundamental movement skills in the early years and progressively build agility, balance, coordination and sport-specific skills as they move through school.

We are committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to swim. Children in KS2 receive swimming lessons, with our aim being for all pupils to swim at least 25 metres and to understand how to keep themselves safe in water by the time they leave primary school.

Sport at Rosary extends beyond curriculum lessons. We participate enthusiastically in the Camden Schools Sports programme, taking part in a wide range of inter-school competitions and events throughout the year. Alongside competitive sport, we celebrate the value of participation, personal improvement and collaboration — knowing that the habits of an active life, built in childhood, can last a lifetime.
