Father Rudolf Visit
Father Rudolf visited us yesterday and told us about the Sacrament of Baptism. He had a mystery bag that he took different items from! The bag contained a: - Stole (a long, narrow strip of fabric worn around the priests neck) - Baptismal oil: the priest anoints the baby on the forehead with the Sign of the Cross. The oil shows how special the baby or person being baptised is to God. - A seashell: this is used to pour the holy water on the babys head (this is done three times) - A towel to dry the baby - A white garment: this is to put on the baby and represents that the baby has been cleaned of original sin - A candle: the priest says receive the light of Christ because Jesus is the light of the world and he enlightens our life. He makes everything clear People often have a party after a Baptism to celebrate the baby entering into Gods family. We are so grateful that Father Rudolf came to explain this to us!
