Our aim is to provide an inclusive, challenging and enjoyable curriculum for physical education as well as a range of extra-curricular activities to engage and stretch all children. As well as improving physical fitness, we believe that great PE teaches self-discipline; improves leadership skills and goal setting and reduces stress. We feel passionate that children must understand the importance of an active lifestyle and associated health benefits.

PE lessons are planned carefully to ensure that a range of sports and physical skills are developed. See our PE Planning and Progression Map for more information. At the heart of all our PE lessons, are core values of inclusivity and teamwork. Our outstanding PE Coach and teaching staff always encourage a growth mindset in all PE lessons, through a culture of personal bests, personal goal-setting and progress against personal targets.

P.E. has a high status within our school community. As well as dynamic and challenging lessons which encourage all children to be engaged and active, we also run a number of popular clubs in various areas of sport. We are always heavily involved in all borough-wide events such as the Cross Country, Swimming Gala and Football Tournaments as well as arranging our own internal PE events (such as The Daily Mile challenge) and intra-school competitions and of course enjoying our annual Sports Day at Parliament Hill running track.

PE is taught twice weekly, usually with one lesson taught by Coach Kane and another lesson by the Class Teacher. Specialist teaching in PE enables us to utilise expertise to raise the quality of learning in this subject. Children in Year 3 attend weekly swimming lessons taught by qualified instructors.
