Our aim is to create confident, creative and passionate artists and designers!
Art and design play an important and exciting role within our curriculum. Art is taught weekly either in whole class sessions or in smaller groups. Teachers work from the National Curriculum and our progression maps to plan enriching art, craft and design activities which link wherever possible to class topics.
We want all our children to be engaged, inspired and challenged during art and design lessons. We want to equip them with skills and techniques across all areas of this curriculum so that they feel confident to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design as well as thinking critically about the work of others. In addition to practical lessons working across a range of media, we work hard to give children an understanding of the importance of art and design throughout history and its contribution to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.
