This week in Science, we carried out the ‘Three Little Pigs’ investigation to see if we could build a house using one of three different materials. In the beginning we thought this was going to be easy… but we soon changed our minds as we began building!

We made houses using 3 different materials:

·         Paper straws

·         Wooden lolly sticks

·         Cubes

Predictions:

We predicted that the cube houses would be the best because they are hard and made of plastic which is strong.

We thought the straw houses wouldn’t stay standing because the paper is very light and the straws are bendy.

We thought the wooden sticks house would work well because wood is stronger than paper.

Results:

We found it quite tricky to build our houses and even harder to make them stand! We talked about how science doesn’t always go to plan and next time we might use different or more of our materials to make our houses stand.

Nevertheless, we had so much fun!
