We have been learning about the first signs of spring.

We made close observational paintings of daffodils. We looked closely at how they were formed and talked about how they grew from a small bulb planted in the ground.

Children talked about the stem and how it sucks the water up from the soil through it’s roots in the ground. We thought it was like a straw. The Chicks discussed the petals and the trumpet shape at the top of the daffodil. We looked for the pollen inside and talked about what bees use it for. It has been warm enough for water play! Whilst playing with the water, our chicks remembered that we must water the plants to help them grow. Our friends took turns to water our Nursery plants in the garden.
