To end this half terms topic about ‘Winter’, the chicks have been exploring and experimenting with ice. They used magnifiers, tweezers and small hammers to examine and study large blocks of ice placed in a tray. The blocks were filled with objects for them to discover. We found the chicks made some wonderful observations about the ice; how it felt, what happened to it on contact with warm air in the classroom, what it might be used for and which animals might live in cold, icey regions.
