Today we were visited by Freshwater Theatre to launch our brand new topic: Time Travellers! It is a History topic. We visited the Magical Toy Museum!

First we walked around the room pretending to be stretchy toys!

Then we looked at our first exhibition – teddy bears! We cuddled different teddies and then discussed the history of teddies! Did you know that teddy bears were named after Theodore Roosevelt? He was the President of the USA many years ago. We ordered the bears based on how old they are! We checked how hard the teddies were to help us – older teddy bears tend to be less floppy.

The next exhibit was all about dolls! We cuddled them and discussed their differences – some were made from wood, others were made from cloth, plastic, fabric or even china! We played a game of musical statues… pretending to be different dolls!

We then went to the ‘moving toys’ room! We looked at different examples and played a game of ‘Snap’ looking carefully at the toys!

Our final exhibition was ‘The Inventing Room!’ We invented our own toys! We named our inventions and placed them into the magical toy box! What was your toy called?
