On Monday night the Year 5 Football team played in the final round of the Haverstock league. Starting the evening in 2nd place, the team looked to continue their good form and take out the title. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be as they faced some extremely tough competition with 2 key players missing on the night. Despite this, the team battled on and gave their all in each match. Lucas, James and Gracie were brilliant in the back half, restricting their opposition and cutting off ball supply all evening. Princess and Sina were damaging up forward and through the midfield ensuring Mason had first use of the ball up forward.

Our team walked away from the evening with 3 narrow losses which resulted in us finishing in 3rd place behind Rhyl Street and Brookfield. Although the result wasn’t exactly what we wanted, each player should be proud of their efforts and great sportsmanship on the pitch.

A special mention goes to Princess who played outstanding throughout the tournament and received a trophy for ‘Best and Fairest Player’ in the Competition- A terrific achievement!
