When it comes to plastic pollution, young activist – our Eagles Reporter (code name F!) – is on the forefront of speaking out about the impact of plastic on our environment.

In a recent writing piece, F learnt about the alarming facts and statistics surrounding our consumption of plastic, which has lead to 700 marine species at risk of extinction. While plastic is a highly valuable and convenient material, the sheer amounts that we use each year are unsustainable. Consequently, F wrote a letter to Prime Minister, Theresa May explaining her concerns on the matter and suggested an action plan to protect the environment from further plastic pollution.

Within a week, F received a prompt response from the government office (10 Downing Street) thanking her for her letter and acknowledged the key issues she presented. They have passed her letter onto the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to take her concerns further.

Although this is the beginning of a long battle against plastic pollution for F, she is committed to making environmentally responsible choices in her own life and fighting for the rights of those who cannot defend themselves from this man-made disaster.

We look forward to hearing further updates from F and encourage all families to think carefully about their contribution towards plastic pollution. Together we can all make a difference!
