Today, Condors visited the CLC to learn about ‘Fake News’. We thought about what makes a reliable web source and how to spot scams and incorrect facts.
Each group of four were given a famous person and had to work in pairs to write five key facts. One pair then presented truthful facts and the other incorrect facts to the rest of the class who then made a decision as to which pair were presenting the truth. Sometimes it was very hard to tell because the pairs did such a good job of making small changes to the facts so they were still very believable!
We then used Comic Life to create posters advising school children how to spot fake news. There are three key things to remember:
- use what you know
- cross-reference
- extension of web addresses

CLC was a fun trip, I enjoyed learning about fake news and making posters about how to spot fake news.
It was a blast while we were in CLC. I really enjoyed doing the task which two pairs had a famous person and one did fake news about them while the other did true facts about that person. I did fake news about Queen Victoria with Hattie.
