Year 4 Trips with the London Symphony Orchestra
Over the past week, Year 4 enjoyed two exciting educational trips linked to music and poetry.
On Friday, we visited the Barbican Centre, where we watched a performance by the London Symphony Orchestra called The King Who Tried to Change His Fate. During the performance, we were introduced to the different families of instruments in the orchestra. A storyteller narrated alongside the music, helping bring the story to life. We also joined in with a song and listened carefully for different musical motifs throughout the performance.
Then, on Tuesday, we visited Keats House and took part in a poetry and music workshop. We learned about the poet John Keats and explored how music can connect with poetry. As part of the workshop, we created our own songs, adding actions and composing our own melodies inspired by Keats’ poetry.
