Green Fingered Growers!

Over the last 2 weeks, our topic work has really taken off!

We have carried out investigations, explored seeds and planted seeds in a variety of ways!

Investigation 1- Do big seeds grow bigger plants?

To do this, we planted three seeds of different sizes and made predictions. These seeds have already started to grow & we are really enjoying taking care of them and observing their changes!

Sunflower Seeds

Each Lorikeet had the chance to plant a sunflower seed and some of them have already started to grow! We can’t wait to take them home in a few weeks!

Cress Seeds- Do cress seeds need sunlight & water?

We are carrying out an investigation to test whether cress seeds need water & sunlight. We have 4 pots.

Pot 1- sunlight and water

Pot 2- sunlight but no water

Pot 3- no sunlight but water

Pot 4- no water or sunlight!

We have been observing and tracking their growth. Can you remember the differences in what pot 1 & pot 3 look like?

Investigation 2- How do roots grow?

For our final investigation, we have planted seeds in plastic bags and taped them to our windows! These seeds have water and sunlight and we made predictions about whether we think they will grow or not. We can’t wait to observe any changes.
