This term, we are all working to develop opportunities for Prayer and Worship at school. We have thought of some ways that we would like to enhance the spiritual life of our school. Here are some of the ways:

Blessing ourselves with Holy Water each day

Every Prayer table, in each classroom, will have a Holy water bowl at which pupils can bless themselves. Classes have started personalising their bowls, making them look very special indeed.

EYFS: Prayers from homeĀ

In Reception, each pupil will have the opportunity to bring in a prayer they have made up with an adult at home. Some pupils have already started sharing their beautiful prayers with their class at morning time worship.

Our ‘Treasures’ to be reflected onĀ

Throughout Key Stage 1, two pupils per week will bring in something that is special and meaningful to them. The object/artefact will be kept on the Prayer table and each day, the class will reflect on its significance. For example, a child may bring in a photo of their family and the class will then pray for their family throughout the week. Key Stage 2 pupils will also participate in this idea shortly.

Creating new Rosary School Prayers (Half term project)

From the start of Nursery, pupils begin to hear the words of, and reflect on the traditional prayers of the Church as well as saying our school prayers.

We would now love to create some new Rosary School Prayers. Pupils across the whole school will have the opportunity to compose their own School Prayer as part of a half term homework project.More details will be given out about this next week from class teachers. We can’t wait to hear and see the pupils’ wonderful prayers.
