Watch out, the Vikings are coming!
We have been enjoying finding out about the Vikings and their way of life as part of our topic ‘Invaders and Settlers.’ As part of this work we learnt about the famous Viking raid of a monastery in Lindisfarne, Northumbria. Lindisfarne’s monasteries were famous for their books, treasures and art. Of course this is what attracted the Vikings to raid! They terrified everyone by murdering the monks and stealing treasure as well as burning down buildings!
We decided to imagine that we were at Lindisfarne when the Viking raid took place. Half of us were the monks and half of us were the Vikings, can you guess who is who?
