Science week is well under way and the children are loving learning about the current issues we are facing with looking after our earth, and what we can do to help!

So far we have made:

  • Strong paper boxes for our classroom stationary (instead of sending Mrs.Dawson to the shops to buy plastic ones) to show how we can avoid over-using plastic – a material proving to be a real problem for the environment! We used only one piece of paper and our origami skills!
  • Pollution catchers! We used a paper plate with an earth design, and some string and vaseline for this project. We have hung our pollution catchers across the window and the vaseline will be catching pollution trying to come through the window to invade our learning environment. In a few days we will be able to visibly see the caught pollution in the vaseline, and maybe our brains will even benefit from the cleaner air! WOOHOO!

What could we possibly be doing tomorrow????

Well done Flamingoes – I love the idea of paper stationary boxes rather than plastic ones. I wonder what else in school could be made from another material other than plastic?!
