Rosary Choir and Recorders Royal Albert Hall Memories!

On 10th March the fantastic 50 singers of the Rosary Choir and 4 of our best recorder players took part in the Camden Festival of Music at the Royal Albert Hall.

We were so proud of our young musicians, who performed with confidence and joy in a world-class concert venue.

Weren’t we Blessed! We were very lucky to take part in such a huge concert, with over 2000 performers from across the borough fo Camden.  This happened just a week before all schools were closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.  Looking back, we realise what an incredible experience this was and we remember with fondness that wonderful experience of being part of a HUGE musical community under one roof.

A New Created World: One of our favourite moments was singing as part of the amazing “New Created World” ensemble.  A brand new piece was written by a number of schools, including a school for additional needs and deaf children.  the performance involved orchestra, singers, percussion, rappers, Wider Ops band.  We all enjoyed learning some British Sign Language for the sung part at the end. Enjoy watching the song on youtube:

There was a wide variety of musical performances, including a Rap Club, the Camden Youth Jazz Band, DJs, The Wider Opportunities Band and some amazing solo performances from musicians around the borough.

Thanks to all the parents who came to watch and the wonderful Chaperones who helped the children throughout the day.  We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

Here are some photo highlights of the day.  With thanks to Clare for the amazing photos!

I have really enjoyed putting this all together. Re-watching the Youtube Clip has made me feel very emotional…especially at 9:50

“Living Together, sharing the land, helping each other, hand in hand….A New Created World!”.

How appropriate those words are for this new world we are all living in at the moment. I know you will all be keeping true in your hearts what you sang that evening.

Such fantastic memories Mrs Wright! I performed at this concert in about 1998 with my own school, it was amazing to see it still going strong after all these years.
Also so wonderful to see the absolutely incredible Rosary choir doing their thing so professionally. What a lovely evening to look back on at the moment!
