Freshwater Theatre visited us today and we watched a fantastic show all about Ancient Greece! We became time travellers and visited Ancient Athens. We had to solve different puzzles in order to get back to the present day. We spotted key vocabulary in a word search and learned their definitions.

We also travelled all the way to Sparta! If you were a girl you had to go to school.. but if you were a boy you HAD to be trained to be a warrior! We learned about citizens and slaves.. also known as Helots. Ancient Greeks had a different alphabet.. we learned this, too! We had to work out the code using the Greek Alphabet.

We were even visited by Zeus! He checked our knowledge of the Greek Gods and agreed that it was of a very high standard. We learned about clothing. We know that women in Ancient Greece wore ‘Peplos’. This is a very different look to what women wear nowadays.

In Literacy, we have been learning all about Theseus and the Minotaur. We learned the story using actions so we know it really well. Today we were able to act it out using props which was so exciting!

What a fantastic afternoon!
