Today M from the CLC came to visit KS1. Throughout the afternoon we learnt about what an algorithm was. To start with we explored using clear instructions to move each other around the room! We had to use very clear language like ‘forward, forward, forward, turn left, forward, stop’. We used codes such as arrows to draw the instructions (algorithm!) first.

After that, we had a go with the BeeBots! We took it in turns, with one partner writing the code, and another programming the code into the BeeBot.

After that we had an extra challenge. A dice was introduced! The dice was rolled to give the number of ‘pauses’ the BeeBot had to make.

After working with the BeeBots, we then moved onto the Ipads and used our knowledge of coding to code a virtual BeeBot on an App!

We all had such a wonderful afternoon and learnt so much!

Thank you to the CLC,

From Toucans
