Friday 23 January 2026 Climate Change Design Project: Week 3 - Site Visit to Hampstead Heath As part of the Climate Change All Change project, the Year 5 students visited Hampstead Heath to survey the future site of their design for an Oasis satellite building, a new extension for the Royal Free Hospital for rest and recuperation. The children conducted a comprehensive site analysis, evaluating environmental factors such as the land's gradient, traffic noise, and the natural patterns of sun and wind. By synthesizing these observations, the students are now developing creative architectural responses that aim to harmonize their designs with the Heath's unique landscape and climate.

Tuesday 9 December 2025 History in Snowy Owls: trip to the RAF Museum The Snowy Owls Year 5 class enjoyed a fascinating school trip to the RAF Museum today as part of our World War II topic! We had the incredible opportunity to see the real aircraft of different countries up close, making our learning about wartime aviation truly spectacular. We then took part in a brilliant workshop called "Christmas During Wartime," where we learned how people's lives were affected by the war and the resourcefulness required to celebrate Christmas during this challenging period. We even got hands-on experience by making traditional rag rugs and learned all about the strict rations people lived with, bringing the history of the home front to life.

Wednesday 26 November 2025 Pelicans Class Assembly Today, we performed our class assembly, all about Light and Sound. We confidently acted out different scenes to show what we had learned in our science lessons and shared lots of interesting facts about how we hear sounds and how light travels. We also performed a short scene from our class book, The Firework Maker's Daughter, and proudly shared a piece of our writing with the audience. The assembly included a song about light and sound, reminding us how we can be a light to others through kindness and good choices. We ended our assembly with a thoughtful prayer, bringing our learning together in a calm and reflective way.

Monday 24 November 2025 Toucans Crick Workshop Toucan Class enjoyed an exciting visit from the Crick Workshop this week. The children learned all about germs—both the helpful ones that keep our bodies working properly and the harmful ones that can make us unwell. They explored how germs spread, how our immune system protects us, and why good hygiene is so important. The highlight of the session was using real microscopes to look closely at tiny microorganisms, letting the pupils see a hidden world they'd only heard about before. It was a hands-on, fascinating experience that sparked lots of curiosity and great questions!

Monday 24 November 2025 Jubilee Celebration of the Word Our school joyfully celebrated the Jubilee Year: Celebration of the Word, marking a special moment in our community. We began with a beautiful Pilgrimage of Hope, led by our dedicated Mini Vinnies Chaplaincy Team, who guided us in reflection and prayer as we journeyed together. On Friday, we gathered again for a whole-school assembly, where the Mini Vinnies shared the wonderful work we have been doing throughout this Jubilee Year to grow as true pilgrims of hope—through acts of kindness, service, and living out our faith each day. As a school, we look forward to continuing this mission during the remainder of the Jubilee Year and carrying its message of hope and compassion with us into the future.

Friday 14 November 2025 PSHE in Snowy Owls - Anti Bullying Week Welcome to Anti-Bullying Week in Snowy Owls! On Monday, we watched a BBC video about how we can stop bullying. We wrote pledges describing how to use our Power for Good! For example, I wrote “I pledge to show empathy to others when they are in need”. Tuesday was ‘Be Internet Legends Day' where we discussed how to be kind to others online. We designed our own internauts. Here is mine. She's called Zizy and her powers are blocking and reporting inappropriate things. She is an Earth Queen because she loves animals. Zizy loves reporting things because it makes her feel safe and comfortable. On Wednesday, we looked at our article of the week and watched the inspiring anti-bullying choir, Class Dynamix, perform their anti-bullying rap. Thursday, we discussed how we wanted to create a world that is kind. We filled our superhero capes with the small, powerful acts of kindness we could do this week. Also, all week we have be analysing quotes from famous people to h
