Thursday 7th May Pelicans Celebration Blog

Pelicans Class have been working SO hard this week.

Have a look at what we’ve been up to!

In Literacy, we are reading George’s Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl! It is such a fantastic book and links in with our topic (‘Blood, Bones, Teeth and Eyeballs’).
This week, we have been focusing on commands so that we could write our very own Marvellous Medicines! After planning them, we wrote them! Check out C’s recipe… it looks like it’s on a long, golden scroll!

In Maths, we have been revising addition and subtraction using the column method. We solved word problems, too. There was a really tricky investigation called ‘Reach 100’ which some of us attempted… it really got our brains going! We have also completed Round 1 of the Summer Sizzle! We can’t wait for next week when we will do Round 2!

May is the month of Mary and so we have been learning all about our Mother. You can see some of our creative pieces of work below. Our topic in R.E. is ‘Celebrating Easter and Pentecost.’ We have been writing poems about the Easter and learning about the Resurrection. Have a look at some of our work!

In our Science lessons, we have been learning about the different food groups, and nutrition.

We cannot wait to continue with our learning next week!

Over the weekend, please do send me any photos of you and your families celebrating VE Day! I have already received some pictures so thank you so much! I can’t wait to see you all wearing red, white or blue and celebrating VE Day 75 tomorrow.

Also, you can use the weekend to rehearse for Rosary’s Got Talent! The class rounds will take place in our Zoom session next week! Remember, this is optional- you do not need to take part in this if you don’t want to.
Have a lovely weekend, Pelicans!
